The team at iFixIt has completed its teardown of the Apple Watch Ultra and says that Apple failed to mention what they thought was the most important new feature. Like the iPhone 14, which is the most repairable iPhone in years, the Apple Watch Ultra has taken a huge leap forward in being more repairable.
The big change is that the Apple Watch Ultra’s back is screwed on and not glued. There’s a fragile gasket that aids with waterproofing which the iFIxIt team mangled but that should be a replaceable part. The battery is different to previous Apple Watches as well, coming in a hard case that can be removed and swapped without having to deal with glue. (In case you missed it, repairers hate glue).
