Once sworn enemies, then business partners and now friends – that’s been the journey Apple and Microsoft have gone through since the 1970s through to today. And that friendship has been further extended as Microsoft can boast better support for photos as well Apple Music and Apple TV coming to Windows 11.
Apple Music on the Xbox
If you have an Xbox console, you can now access Apple Music on the Xbox. This also allows you to listen your own soundtrack while playing a game. The new feature is available on a number of different Xbox models.
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox One
To add Apple Music to your supported XBox:
- On Series X or S, press the Xbox button then look for the app in Store > Apps.
- On Xbox One, scan all the way to the right on the Dashboard until you find Apps.
Apple Music has been popping up on a number of different devices. It’s now integrated into a number of smart TVs as well as rivals to the Apple TV such as the Roku and Amazon Fire
Apple TV to hit Windows 11
Buried in Microsoft’s recent product announcement about all its new hardware comes news that the Apple TV app will officially launch on Windows 11 next year with a preview (Microsoft’s way of saying public beta) expected later this year.
Better support for iCloud photos and videos with Windows 11
Microsoft also announced a new integration with iCloud and the Photos app in Windows 11 that will let you access all your photos and videos from your iPhone right in the Photos app. An updated iCloud for Windows app from the Microsoft Store will allow you to sync photos directly into the Windows Photos app. This is already available as a preview and will become available to everyone using Windows 11 in November 2022.
