Apple Music Sing is a new feature that allows users to sing along to their favourite songs with adjustable vocals and real-time lyrics. While Apple Music, like Spotify, has displayed lyrics on songs as they play, Apple Music Sing lets you take the lead, perform duets, sing backup and more.
Apple Music Sing will be available later this month to Apple Music subscribers worldwide, but not Apple Music Voice Plan subscribers, and will work on iPhone, iPad and the new Apple TV 4K. Thankfully, there’s no sign of it appearing on CarPlay so there’s no concern about the driver next you blasting out some off-key Mariah Carey when you’re stuck in traffic.
Among the features that Apple Music Sing offers are
- Adjustable vocals: Users now have control over a song’s vocal levels. They can decide whether to sing with the original artist vocals, take the lead or mix it up, on millions of songs in the Apple Music catalogue.
- Real-time lyrics: Users can sing along to their favourite songs with even more precise timing. On screen, Apple Music will highlight the exact moment being sung, as if the words are dancing to the rhythm of the vocals.
- Background vocals: Vocal lines sung simultaneously can animate independently from the main vocals to make it easier for users to follow.
- Duet view: Multiple vocalists show on opposite sides of the screen to make duets or multi-singer tracks easy to sing along to.
I can see some karaoke parties in my future.
