No, someone at Apple HQ has not been getting into recently legalised substances in California. Nor has someone decided that Apple fans will literally spend all their money just to get anything new from Apple. A tattoo artist in the USA, Karen Green, was gifted an original, first generation iPhone back in 2007, which she never opened.
Green, who read of another iPhone being auctioned for almost USD$40,000, wants to sell the iPhone in order to fund her cosmetic tattooing business. Having kept the iPhone in its shrink-wrap bundled up in an old pair of pyjamas, Green contacted the auction house that sold the other iPhone. They have listed the original iPhone with a starting bid of USD$2,500 with an estimated price of “USD$50,000 and up”.
The auction runs until 20 February 2023 AEST (ZE-11).
I’m holding out high hopes for the last version of the iPod nano I’m holding on to as well as an e-Mate and a MessagePad to find my retirement.
