I love a good teardown and iFixIt’s attention to detail and quality video, imagery and instructions are the best in the business. And this week, they turn their attention to the all new 15-inch MacBook Air. Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of the 13-inch MacBook in the larger, new model.
The 15-inch MacBook Air gets a revised speaker layout – not surprising given it has two more speakers than its smaller sibling. The extra space in the case gives Apple room for a larger battery – 66.5 wH or 25% larger than the 13-inch model. But otherwise, it’s not much different. Which means its repairability still sucks – iFixIt describes is “miserable” – although Apple is making effort to improve things on the front.
