Apple has announced the opening of two new visionOS labs so developers can prepare their apps for the coming release of the Vision Pro. And while another lab opening in the USA is not surprising, it’s great to see that Sydney will be getting a lab for developers. Hopefully, Apple will realise that Australia is a pretty big place and that another lab could be useful.
Developers can submit an application for a one-day lab experience so they test and optimise apps for the Apple Vision Pro. The sessions are self-directed. Developers will need to bring their Mac, code, and everything you need to modify, build, run, and test your app on Apple Vision Pro. Apple experts will be available to help with setup and troubleshooting.
To attend the lab, developers need to sign in with an Apple ID and complete a request form, which requires a screenshot of your app running in the visionOS simulator. Requests will be reviewed with priority given to new visionOS apps and existing iPadOS and iOS apps being enhanced for visionOS. Apple recommends one designer and one engineer attend the lab. Each member needs to submit a separate request for the same day and location.
Labs also take place in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.
