I used Apple’s Notes app every day – it’s where I draft almost every post that goes on this site. There are days when I flip between several notes as I work on different stories and ideas. To make life a little easier, Apple added a Recent Notes option to its app. Here’s how to use it.
Using the new Recent Notes option
The Recent Notes option is only available when you’re working on another note. That means you need to have another note open for the menu option to become available.
- Open a Note
- Tap on the menu button at the top-right corner of the screen
- Choose Recent Notes from the list of options
A list of your most recently opened notes appears.
How to create a Smart Folder in Notes
Of course, if you want another way to do this that’s a little more accessible, you could create a Smart Folder.
- Tap the New Folder at the bottom-left of the screen
- Give the folder a name (I called mine “This week”) and then tap the “Make into Smart Folder” option
- Tap on Edited (you could chose Created or some other filter if that works better for you) and then elect the time period you want from the list (I chose “Last 7 Days”)
- Hit the Done button a couple of times and you now have a Smart Folder that lists the files you’ve been editing over the last week.
