Australia has consolidated its position on the Speedtest Global Index, a ranking of global broadband speed, rising to 41st place – up one spot on the previous month. Average download speeds increased slightly from 164.09Mbps to 164.98Mbps as the effects of NBNCo’s Accelerate Great program have taken hold.
Upload speeds have improved markedly from 38.92Mbps to 41.21Mbps.
However, the news was not all good. Our mobile speeds took a hit over the last reporting period with downloads dropping from 127.95Mbps to 124.45Mbps. Mobile upload speeds remained steady.

The Accelerate Great program, which significantly boosted internet speeds to hundreds of thousands of internet users at no cost, has helped Australian move up the global rankings and greatly exceed global averages. While we are along way behind the global leader, Singapore, the gap is slowly narrowing.
