Vision Pro gets the M5 treatment

Apple has given the Vision Pro a speed bump with the new M5 chip. The new new Dual Kent band gives comfort a lift. Performance, display rendering, battery life, and comfort have all been improved.

While the Vision Pro hasn’t set any sales records, Apple says the device is supported by over 1 million apps and thousands of games on the App Store as well as hundreds of 3D movies on the Apple TV app.

In an effort to bolster the device’s popularity, Apple is also bringing a selection of live NBA games to Vision Pro.

Interestingly, the new M5 chip enables Vision Pro to put more pixels in its micro-OLED displays compared to the previous generation. Typically, resolution boosts require a change in the display but Apple has not, it seems, upgraded the built-in displays suggesting it had some future-proofing rolled into the original specifications. Like the latest iPhones, Vision Pro can also increase the refresh rate up to 120Hz for reduced motion blur when users look at their physical surroundings and a smoother experience when using Mac Virtual Display.

The new Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip and Dual Knit Band starts at $5,999 and is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities. It will be available in store on 22 October 2025.
