Microsoft has announced that Microsoft Outlook for Mac is now 100% and that you no longer need a Microsoft 365 account to use it.

Note that while the product has been announced as available, the version in the macOS App Store has not been updated at the time of writing.

Apple’s Mail, Calendar and Reminders apps are pretty solid and easily the pass the “good enough” test for most people. With many people switching from other platforms to the Mac, there’s a desire to use apps that are familiar. Microsoft Outlook is one of those apps that can make the transition to a Mac easier.

The changes to the app, announced by Microsoft this week, include support for IMAP email services as well as iCloud, Gmail and Yahoo! (is anyone still using Yahoo!?). Outlook for Mac integrates with macOS with a widget for the Notification Centre as well as support for Handoff so you can start composing a message on your iPhone and continue on your Mac. And an upcoming update will enable you to connect your email accounts to Apple’s Focus experience so you choose when notifications will appear.

Outlook for Mac is free from the App Store. However, it seems that while the product has been announced, the version in the macOS App Store has not been updated at the time of writing.
