Telstra, Australia’s largest mobile carrier, has announced that prices for mobile plans will increase by between $3 and $6 per month in line with inflation for 4 July 2023. And while prices are rising so are some data allowances although this seems tokenistic given many people don’t get close to using all their data.
Here’s the breakdown:
Plan | Old price | New price | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Starter | $47 | $50 | 2GB |
Basic | $58 | $62 | 50GB (was 40GB) |
Essential | $68 | $72 | 180GB |
Premium | $89 | $95 | 300GB |
Mobile data plans, such as those for a device like an iPhd that don’t make calls will also increase although the Small plan, which offers 30GB of monthly data, remains unchanged at $25 per month.
- Small: $35 per month for 30GB
- Medium: $58 per month (increase of $3) for 75GB
- Large: $90 per month (increase of $5) for 400GB
Telstra moved from its old system whereby the deal you signed on for stayed the same until you made a shift. Plan prices now change annually.
Vodafone and Optus also increased prices for the majority of their customers by $4-$5 recently.
