Infinite Mac takes you for a ride down memory lane

Today’s macOS has a long history. It’s life started back in 1984, with the famous ad made by Ridley Scott for Steve Jobs. And when the first Macintosh was released it was a revolutionary take on the PC. Just as the iPhone revolutionised the mobile phone industry, the Mac did the same for personal computers. Infinite Mac is a project that ensures those early versions of Mac OS are not lost.

Infinite Mac lets you run, from within a web browser, everything from System 1.0, the first release of Mac OS through to Mac OS 9.0.4 as well 41 other releases that came before OS X was revealed in March 2001.

My journey with the Mac started with an iBook G4 back in around 2004, running OS X Panther so I never lived through or used an older Mac for any length of time. But I recall being jealous of fellow students who were using Macs at home to produce papers and essays that looked like they’d been professionally prepared. I thought I was lucky to have an electric typewriter!

If you’re looking to enjoy some history, pop over to Infinite Mac and try an older version of the Mac for yourself and marvel at how far we have progressed.
