It’s been a busy start to the day in the Apple universe with three news items hitting the wires this morning.

iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3 develop betas released

New betas of Apple’s software for the Mac, iPad and iPhone have been released for developers. The release notes for macOS 15.2, iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 don’t tell us too much.

Issues with Genmoji’s and Writing tools (when used with third party apps) have been resolved. We can expect some minor tinkering with Apple Intelligence (especially given the recent issues raised by the BBC with over inaccurate news summaries) but more significant Apple Intelligence updates aren’t expected until iOS3 and iPadOS 18.4 which won’t come until around Autumn 2025.

The release notes for the macOS 18.3 beta offer no significant information

ChartGPT Search gets wide release

ChatGPT search debuted in October 2024. As of today,  it’s now available to all logged-in users in regions where ChatGPT is available.

The service can be accessed from ChatGPT.com as well as through desktop and mobile apps.

While this might look like a great boon, it’s worth noting that a search using generative AI uses a lot of energy with some saying the energy required to execute some generative AI queries could fully recharge your smartphone.
