Apple has released macOS Sequoia 15.3. This system update, that’s available for all Macs that are capable of running macOS Sequoia, includes several enhancements and bug fixes. Here’s what you need to know.
How to upgrade to macOS 15.3
If you have a compatible Mac, simply go into System Settings, lick on General and choose Software Update.
You can choose to either Upgrade Now or for the update to be automatically installed overnight (assuming your Mac is connected to power and has adequate charge).
What’s in the macOS 15.3 update?
Apple has added a few new features and fixed a couple of bugs. Here’s what Apple’s release notes say:
Genmoji creation in Messages and other apps
Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you click the equals sign again
Easily manage settings for notification summaries from the Lock Screen (Mac with Apple silicon)
Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph (Mac with Apple silicon)
Notification summaries for News & Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable, and users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available (Mac with Apple silicon)
It’s important to note that while there are still many Intel-based Macs in use, many of Apple’s new features rely on Apple Silicon.
The updates regarding Apple Intelligence-generated summaries are important as Apple acknowledges that its summaries are not always accurate. Summaries for news articles from news and entertainment apps are currently off. And summaries are now italicised to make it obvious when AI has been used.
Apple does not reveal information regarding security fixes as this can give threat actors intelligence about potential exports that can use.
