As we approach the final release of Apple’s new operating system software, the updates are coming thick and fast. Apple has released the second public beta versions of macOS Tahoe 26, iPadOS 26 and iOS 26.
It’s been a couple of weeks since Apple released the first public betas of its next generation software. So, it seems they are following a similar cadence to past years with new public betas and developer betas coming fortnightly on alternate weeks.
As always, we don’t recommend installing beta software on devices you rely on. If you do decide to take the plunge on a production system make sure you have a reliable backup to respire your system should something not go to plan.
To access the public beta of macOS Tahoe 26:
- Launch System Settings
- Go to General and then open Software Update
- Tap the information symbol adjacent to Beta Updates and choose macOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta from the list of options

Software Update will download the update and give you the option of installing it immediately or overnight.
You can follow a similar process on your iPad or iPhone by going to Settings | General | Software Update.
